Overall Feedback: On Friday October 6th we visited The Nevermore Haunt located in Old Town Baltimore. 2017 is season number two for The Nevermore Haunt and we were eager to check them out. The Nevermore Haunt is a 10,000 square foot indoor haunted house. Although The Nevermore Haunt is only a one attraction haunt they have partnerships with several bars and restaurants in Fells Point where with a ticket purchase to the haunt you will receive special discounts. Parking is available at the haunt itself but there is also a free shuttle that will transport customers from Fells Point to the haunt and back. This makes a night out even easier for those looking for dinner, drinks and a few scares! At the conclusion of our experience we were able to speak with the owner of the haunt who shared his teams interest in expanding the attraction to the second floor of the building it's housed in. So from the sounds of it they have lots of room to grow. We elected to park onsite and we are glad we did. The short walk from the parking area to the haunt is rather cool, yet creepy at the same time. Nothing but old abandoned buildings are visible which definitely got us in the mood for a good scare. The Nevermore Haunt itself is an “old school” style haunt. You won’t find any cheesy animatronics, prefabricated sets and your typical haunted attraction costume and makeup at this haunt. The sets and all elements of the actors (costume, makeup, skits, etc.,) screamed 19th century Baltimore. At The Nevermore Haunt you will find “mangled factory workers, deranged serial killers, unlicensed physicians, vengeful sailors and creatures so terrifying they defy description return once more to this plane of existence to terrify and entertain the guests of Baltimore.” As we waited in line to enter the attraction we were amused by the multiple queue line actors, kudos to those guys for getting the customers excited to enter the attraction. Inside the haunt we experienced a mixture of laughs and scares and definitely heard shrieks of fear from other customers as well. We had a bit of mixed feelings when it came to the actors. Some actors were downright creepy and had perfected their skits while others seemed to be winging their scares which lead to the overused and typically unamusing grunt/growl. When it came to costume and makeup there were zero flaws… we really appreciated how each and every character possessed costume and makeup that went perfectly with their scene and the overall theme of the haunt. The set designs and props were clearly handmade and unique to the haunt. Look out for a moving scene that will surely catch you off balance! Oh, we can’t forget to mention a prop that literally swallowed one of our members whole!! We did feel some of the scenes were a bit bland and lacking of energy which lead to us noticing the open ceilings as our eyes wandered. Obviously due to safety code the open ceilings aren’t going to disappear. We suggest more eye grabbing props and high energy actors to help keep the customers attention within the scene and preventing wandering eyes to notice the open ceilings. We learned while speaking with the owner that The Nevermore Haunt is managed by a team of individuals who have served as actors, makeup artists, set designers, etc. at local Maryland haunts. Definitely a team of individuals who all possess different ideas and haunt experiences. We do advise that you read the rules and warnings closely before heading out to The Nevermore Haunt as they do have age and height requirements. Overall, The Nevermore Haunt provides a unique haunt experience that is affordable and can be paired nicely with dinner and drinks! If you’re looking for a night of dinner, drinks and scares then The Nevermore Haunt is just the place for you. Check them out and let us know what you think!
