Overall Feedback: Fright Factory located in Philadelphia PA is back for their 20th year of terrorizing haunt goers! Located in downtown Philadelphia in the basement of a decrepit warehouse, Fright Factory certainly has a dark and eerie atmosphere perfect for a Haunted Attraction. With around 25,000 square feet, Fright Factory utilizes nearly every inch of their space to provide a horrifying 20-25 minute experience!

We arrived onsite at Fright Factory shortly after 9pm and they were packed with fellow haunt goers! Finding parking is typically the only downside to visiting Fright Factory, but fortunately we were able to find some spots a few blocks from the haunt in a public lot. As we approached the ticket booth we encountered a few roaming scare actors, who were taunting and tormenting the guests, preparing them for the experience that lies ahead. Upbeat music was blaring from nearby speakers to help create an energized atmosphere. Tickets for 2020 can be purchased onsite or ahead of time online. Pricing ranges from $25-$30 depending on the evening you’re attending on. Prior to snagging our tickets we had the pleasure of chatting with the owner of the haunt, who shared they’ve made quite a few changes since our last visit at Fright Factory in 2018.

Fright Factory is three different themed attractions experienced one after another making for one long walkthrough experience! Shortly before entering the attraction guests must pass through the security and health checkpoints. Face coverings were strictly enforced and all haunt goers had their temperatures checked. After passing through these safety checkpoints guests venture down a dark and eerie ramp into the depths of the basement which houses Fright Factory. Shortly before entering the attraction itself, guests have the opportunity to have a group picture taken featuring a Fright Factory backdrop. Afterwards a staff member will review the rules of the attraction and then send you off to experience Fright Factory!

The experience kicks off with maze-like passageways and absolute darkness, creating a sense of fear and disorientation. Throughout the three themed sections guests should expect to encounter a wide array of scenes! From sewer tunnels to an insane asylum to an elegantly crafted swamp, Fright Factory has something sure to please every haunt goer! The sets featured a good deal of attention to detail helping to create a life-like feel. Intense special effects were utilized to immerse guests further into the experience, helping to provide countless scares! The sets were littered with aesthetically pleasing and downright creepy props and animatronics! Some of the other scenes you’ll encounter are a decrepit church, morgue, toxic wasteland, bathhouse, dentist office, and many other classic haunt scenes!

Along your journey through Fright Factory you’ll encounter a slew of crazed scare actors such as deranged asylum patients, psychotic clowns, demented nuns, and many others! Our top two scare actors of the night were easily the crazed asylum patient roaming the outside of the asylum facade and the heavy set gentleman in the bathhouse - both of these folks were fully immersed in their roles and provided memorable performances that still send chills down our spines! We can’t forget to mention the numerous large actor driven props which were cleverly hidden and then quickly maneuvered towards our squad to deliver a scare!

After a 20-25 minute action packed and spine-tingling experience guests are funneled through the Fright Factory merchandise shop before exiting out the backside of the property! One thing for certain, our squad was thoroughly impressed with the Fright Factory experience this season! These folks really outdid themselves by revamping many of the scenes and providing a frightfully fun experience! We had the chance to catch up with the owner of Fright Factory again before heading home for the evening. During our conversation we learned that a portion of the movie Terrifier 2 was actually recently recorded at Fright Factory. So those of you who are Terrifier fans, be on the lookout for the release of the movie Terrifier 2!

Despite all the craziness of 2020 and the restrictions/guidelines that Fright Factory had to abide by, these folks still succeeded at providing a frightfully fun and terrifying experience! We enjoyed the changes these folks had made since our last visit in 2018 and can’t wait to revisit again in the near future! Job well done to the entire Fright Factory team! Definitely keep Fright Factory in mind if you’re looking for some spooky fun next fall.
