Overall Feedback: Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail located about 45 minutes south of Greensboro, North Carolina provides a remarkably spooky fun experience! The backwoods & old school style haunt vibe here is few & far between in today's haunt world. Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail is housed well off the beaten path & what seems is far away from human existence. We truly felt as though we were a part of a horror movie as we ventured down the dark snake-like roadways & fittingly passed several eerie cemeteries. We’d eventually stumble upon Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail, perfectly tucked back into the dark & ominous woods of Seagrove, North Carolina.

Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail is still a relatively new haunted attraction, as 2022 is just their 7th year of professional haunting. It’s pretty remarkable the size operation these folks have crafted up in such a short amount of time. We hadn’t heard of these folks' existence until owner Chris reached out to our page inviting us out for a visit. We always enjoy experiencing new-to-us attractions, so we were certainly excited to pay Spooky Bottom a visit!

We arrived onsite at Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail just a few minutes prior to closing time. These folks boast a rather lengthy haunted trail, providing ~20+ minutes of true in attraction experience. General admission tickets run for $35, which also includes their GellyBall Zombie Shoot experience (shoot live zombies with Orbeez, jelly-like balls). Skip the line passes can be added on for an additional $15. There’s still plenty of time to visit these folks, as they’re open a few more weekends (predominantly Friday-Sunday). A lovely host in the ticket booth got our crew setup with tickets & then directed us forth towards the midway. Guests will make a quick pitstop through security, be sure to leave any pocket knives, lighters, etc in your vehicle.

Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail possesses a large midway area for guests to enjoy while waiting their turn. Guests are given a group number, which serves as your entry cue into the attraction. Therefore you can kickback, relax, & enjoy the midway offerings instead of waiting in a lengthy queue line. A live band was onsite to entertain the audience & provided an energizing buzz into the midway. Several food stands were serving up scrumptious offerings sure to satisfy all your hankerings. A few barrels of fire were scattered throughout, helping to keep guests warm. Don’t forget to snag a group photo at one of the photo-ops as a way to commemorate your visit. With it essentially being past closing time at this point we scurried off to begin our experience.

Prior to beginning our experience we had the pleasure of chatting with owners Chris & Bekah, as well as their costuming/make-up & cast leads. This small but mighty crew is very clearly passionate about providing a spooky fun experience. It was great to hear how Chris & Bekah turned what used to be a small backyard trail into what is now a rather large scale operation. Despite having notably grown into a larger scale operation, it’s super cool how they’ve still maintained their unique backwoods & old school vibe.

Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail immerses the audience into a backwoods horror movie that’s sure to leave long-lasting nightmares! Just moments into these dark & ominous woods you’re fully immersed into a creepy & unnerving ambiance. Our nerve-racking journey commenced with an elegantly crafted swamp scene. A cackling old gal released her swamp monster on us. The creature came barreling after us as we traversed across the old crickety bridge. Be careful where you step or you might very well be the next unruly inhabitant in this spine-chilling swamp. One section of trees was littered with eerie dolls dangling from the branches, making for a rather unnerving sight. A tree-hut of sorts possessed a lady wielding a live snake, which certainly caught us off guard. A junkyard-esque scene featured blood-thirsty zombie-like creatures trying to snack on our limbs. A gory diner possessed a manic butcher who provided a rather startling engagement. “The Town” has been overrun by “The Master” and his satanic cult. All sorts of sinister surprises lurked in the darkness, some of which spoke all sorts of horrifying & undecipherable gibberish. The Infirmary possessed by far one of the most passionate character engagements we’ve ever encountered. A gory & twisted infirmary possessed a crazed doctor who’s known for malpractice. As we rounded the corner a patient tied to a gurney was observed violently thrashing around as the crazed doctor vividly peeled off the skin on her face! This was truly a shocking & frighteningly realistic encounter. A dimly lit & decrepit mineshaft was cleverly crafted on a hillside, giving off the appearance of truly descending into an abandoned mineshaft. Lookout for the inhabitants that still roam the forsaken mineshaft. At one point a witch-esque ghoul provided a quick startle scare & then proceeded to show off her most recent victim, as he was skewered like a shrimp & hovering over the crackling fire. At another point we felt as though we stumbled into a deserted campground. But then suddenly terrified & harmed campers appeared out of nowhere to forewarn us about the chainsaw wielding maniac they had just encountered. And of course, right on cue, the chainsaw wielding maniac surfaced & providing a startling engagement as he nearly hacked off our limbs. A retro carnival/clown themed area gave us extremely old school vibes; the clowns encountered were clever as they sneakily appeared & disappeared providing several quick hitting startles. Our experience concluded as we stumbled through the Spooky Bottom bus where a few rowdy spooks delivered one final startle.

We truly have to give major kudos to the cast & crew at Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail. With being an old school style haunt, Spooky Bottom relies heavily on their cast to drive the show & bring the scenes to life. These spooks were energized, fully immersed into their characters, & absolutely relentless in their attacks! Truly each & every character was on-point, delivering a flawless performance! Not to mention these spooks had excellent dialogue & unique skits plus were extremely interactive & witty. Job well done Spooky Bottom cast & crew!

We were truly impressed & pleasantly surprised by the experience Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail provides. Their scenic design is detailed, aesthetically pleasing, & immersive. The overhead audio throughout the trail added another layer of creep factor & further enhanced the experience. The characters were horrifyingly marvelous, providing countless spine-chilling & memorable engagements! We can’t rave enough about our spooky fun adventure through these backwoods of horrors! We had the pleasure of chatting with owners Chris & Bekah once more before wrapping up our visit. We were elated to share with them how much we enjoyed our experience at Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail. If you’ve yet to experience Spooky Bottom Haunted Trail for yourself then you’re seriously missing out!! These folks sure know how to provide a frightfully fun experience, so be sure to visit before the spooky season concludes! Job well done Spooky Bottom team, we look forward to visiting again in the near future!
