HORROR HALL — NANTICOKE, PA

Overall Rating: 8.37/10

Never judge a haunt by its cover.

Horror Hall is incredibly unassuming, and admittedly, we weren't entirely sure what to expect. What we found was a passion-driven, old-school haunt packed with personality, interaction, and a cast that absolutely stole the show.

There's a home-haunt charm here—just on a much larger scale. Creative scenes, committed performers, unexpected interactions, and a seamless mix of old-school scares with newer effects made Horror Hall one of those pleasant surprises we love finding.

For 2026, they also debuted Horror Hall Underground, an interactive paranormal experience inside a haunted speakeasy. It's still finding its footing, but he concept and potential are seriously exciting.

🎪 ENTERTAINMENT VALUE — 7.70/10

Visiting on a rainy night made us especially appreciative of the indoor ticketing and waiting area, complete with seating, horror clips, and a fun Jason photo-op.

Outside, a smaller midway featured food, cotton candy, an ice cream truck, vendors, and some genuinely cool Horror Hall merchandise. A roaming character kept guests entertained, though another character or two would help maintain the energy outside the attractions.

Bonus points from our four-legged reviewer for the dog treats from one of the vendors. 😂

🎭 COSTUME & MAKEUP — 8.53/10

Characters consistently looked and felt like they belonged within their scenes, particularly throughout the New Orleans-inspired portions.

The Voodoo Lady was a standout—not just because of her appearance, but how she brought it to life. Twitching movements, darting eyes, an eerie voice, strange noises, and complete commitment transformed a great character look into something genuinely unsettling.

🎭 CAST & CREW — 9.26/10

This is where Horror Hall shines.

The cast didn't simply jump out and scream—they interacted, improvised, adapted to their groups, and created actual characters.

The Fortune Teller and his raven-toting assistant delivered one of the night's best scenes, complete with a floating table and some hilarious interaction. The Voodoo Lady completely immersed us in her world, staying in character even as we left her room.

The clowns were another highlight, adjusting their dialogue to our group before very seriously asking if anyone was deathly afraid of... Rob Zombie. 😂

Even the finale gave us something unexpected when an asylum character decided some guests didn't need to walk out—they needed to be wheeled out.

🏚️ SET DESIGN & SPECIAL EFFECTS — 8.66/10

Horror Hall blends newer technology with old-school haunt design surprisingly well. The cemetery, foggy swamp, and Voodoo sequence created one of the strongest stretches of theming. Small details—like the de Lioncourt mausoleum for Anne Rice fans—reward guests who pay attention.

Other standouts included the Fortune Teller's floating table, an interactive “push a button” room filled with surprises, and an unexpected opening scare that started the attraction strong.

The new Horror Hall Underground takes a different approach, combining paranormal storytelling, a haunted speakeasy, and escape-room-style interaction. Its opening reveal was one of the most creative surprises of our visit.

Being opening weekend, some effects and timing were still being worked out, but there's an excellent foundation here as the team continues developing the experience.

😱 FRIGHT & THRILL FACTOR — 7.73/10

Horror Hall isn't trying to overwhelm guests with nonstop intensity—and it doesn't need to. Its best scares come through atmosphere, interaction, and misdirection. The foggy swamp landed some great scares, a ghillie-suited character struck at exactly the right moments, and several interactive scenes caught us simply because we didn't know what was coming.

It's approachable enough for a broad audience while still giving experienced haunt-goers plenty to enjoy. Not everything has to be extreme to be fun.

🏆 FRIGHT NIGHT MVP

🥇 Fortune Teller Fella — Interactive, theatrical, funny, and backed by one of the night's most memorable scenes. His chemistry with his assistant made this feel like its own little show.

🥈 Voodoo Lady — Twitching movements, eerie vocals, bizarre mannerisms, and total commitment transported us straight into the bayou. Finding out she's new to haunting made the performance even more impressive.

🥉 Asylum Lady — Because apparently leaving Horror Hall on your own two feet is optional. 😂 The wheelchair sendoff created one of our favorite memories of the night.

Honorable Mentions: The clown performers for their improv and the ghillie-suited character for some beautifully timed scares.

🔪 SHARPENING THE SCARE

Horror Hall has a strong foundation, with most of our feedback centered around continuing to develop the brand-new Underground experience:

  • Keep fleshing out Underground. More scenic clutter and environmental details would make some spaces feel more complete.

  • Fine-tune effect timing. Several scares and animatronics triggered late enough that portions of the group missed the payoff.

  • Clarify when guests should move between rooms. The interactive concept is great, but themed lighting, audio, or environmental cues could help guide groups without breaking immersion.

  • Add one final actor to the asylum corridor for a stronger last scare.

  • Enhance the cemetery atmosphere with slightly darker lighting and additional low-lying fog.

  • Consider additional midway characters to keep the energy going outside the attractions.

Most importantly, Underground feels like a concept worth continuing to invest in. The creativity is already there—now it's about polishing the execution.

👻 FINAL THOUGHTS

Horror Hall completely outperformed our expectations.

It's quirky, interactive, creative, and refreshingly genuine. The cast is the heartbeat of the experience, the scenes contain some fantastic little details, and the attraction successfully mixes newer effects with that nostalgic old-school haunt charm.

Underground may still be finding its rhythm, but the bones of something really cool are already there. We're excited to see what this team turns it into.

We walked in expecting an okay night. We walked out wondering how Horror Hall had managed to stay off our radar for so long. Sometimes the places you least expect are the ones that remind you why you love haunting in the first place.
