Overall Rating: 8.75/10
Our first trip to Lincoln Mill Haunted House left us absolutely fired up! This Philly haunt doesn’t just invite you into a spooky attraction — it drags you headfirst into its gritty, sinister world. From their eerie backstory to the final chainsaw chase, the immersive storyline of tortured mill workers and industrial nightmares is carried flawlessly from start to finish. The result? A short but adrenaline-packed experience where the cast, sets, and effects all hit with intensity. Lincoln Mill proves you don’t need sprawling acreage to deliver a knockout punch of Halloween fear.
Entertainment Value: 9/10
Lincoln Mill makes its midway part of the experience rather than just a waiting area. Guests can grab drinks at the bar, snag snacks from the food stand, shop at the merch booth, or take photos at themed backdrops — including the infamous “live cam” that streams the chaos inside the haunt for everyone outside to see. Roaming characters worked the crowd with energy, keeping the scares going long before we hit the entrance. And for those who want more, Lincoln Mill offers an upgrade ticket for re-entry, letting you go through a second time. It’s a brilliant way to extend your night and get more out of the experience.
Costume & Makeup: 9/10
This crew looked straight out of the mill’s backstory. Dark soot, cracked skin, grime-stained uniforms, and grotesque puppet-inspired characters all tied seamlessly into the narrative. The makeup team clearly focused on story-driven design — nothing felt random or “thrown together.” From marionette-like characters with creepy detailing to bloodied, broken “workers,” every costume and makeup choice helped sell the idea that the mill itself had corrupted its inhabitants.
Cast & Crew: 9.25/10
The cast at Lincoln Mill brought energy, intensity, and creativity from start to finish. One standout was the towering owl character, whose looming presence and surprising engagement added a unique twist to the experience. Lester, the mill worker, was another highlight—his performance was immersive and memorable. We also loved the seamstress lady, who balanced creepy demeanor with a touch of humor during her interaction, making it both unsettling and entertaining. Across the board, the actors leaned into their roles with enthusiasm, keeping guests on edge while mixing in clever personality touches that elevated the overall experience.
Set Design & Special Effects: 8.5/10
The mill itself is a character here, and the set design drove that home. The swamp scene, complete with a ramp that made us feel like we were sinking into the bog, was incredibly effective. A spiral hallway smeared with chilling writing messed with our heads, while the puppet and marionette rooms were nightmare fuel brought to life with unsettling dolls and stringy silhouettes. Lighting was stunning — dim where it needed to be, layered with depth where it mattered most — and gave the scenes a cinematic quality. The audio work was equally sharp, immersing us in industrial groans, whispers, and sudden stingers that elevated the scares.
Fright & Thrill Factor: 8/10
Lincoln Mill brought the heat with a steady stream of in-your-face scares and highly interactive actors who made sure there were no dull moments. The cast kept pressure on from start to finish — no dead space, no downtime. A strobe-lit corridor filled with hanging bodies delivered one of the best-timed scares of the night, and the energy stayed high all the way through the finale.
Fright Night MVP: Delores
Delores stole the show with her unsettling presence, sharp engagement, and impressive makeup—complete with grotesque boils and a tattered apron marked by her nametag. Creepy, charismatic, and memorable, she was the night’s standout!
Sharpening the Scare:
At $35 for a 12–14 minute walkthrough, the value feels a bit steep. Continuing to expand the duration of the haunt will help strengthen the overall experience. The re-entry upgrade option already goes a long way to balance this.
Parking can be hectic on extremely busy nights, but likely isn’t an issue most evenings. Better communication on the website about available lots, walking distance, and pricing would help guests plan ahead.
The midway is already gridlocked for space, so expansion isn’t realistic — but what’s there works well.
Promote the off-season events more heavily inside the haunt itself. Flyers, announcements, or even $5 off vouchers for seasonal guests would drive stronger attendance and keep people connected to Lincoln Mill all year long.
Recap the Screams:
Lincoln Mill Haunted House delivered a gritty, high-energy experience that surprised us in all the best ways. The immersive storyline was executed from start to finish, the cast was interactive and relentless, the lighting and audio design elevated every scene, and standout sets like the swamp descent, puppet room, spiral hallway, and hanging bodies left lasting impressions. Sure, it’s on the shorter side, but with re-entry options, a lively midway, and potential for continued growth, Lincoln Mill offers a complete and memorable night out in the city. For Philly haunt seekers, this one should be high on your Halloween list.
