🎃 Reaper’s Revenge Haunted Hayride & Attractions - 2025 Review

(Special mention: Lil’ Grims Hayride — family-friendly daytime fun for the little ones!)

Overall Rating: 10/10!

Reaper’s Revenge once again proves why it’s among the best in the industry. From the foggy, eerie walk to the ticket booth, to the roaming midway characters, visually stunning scenes, and immersive scares—this is a 90-minute world-class production like no other. The show, energy, and hospitality of Paul & Travis (owner/operator) and the whole Reaper’s Revenge team keep us coming back every season.

Entertainment Value: 9.5/10

The midway alone could be its own attraction—loaded with food (you’ve got to try the deep fried french toast sticks—they were to die for!!), music, psychic readings, roaming actors, massive firepit, and more. The attractions themselves are stacked with immersive moments:

  • Haunted Hayride is the most visually stunning hayride we’ve ever seen, packed with pyrotechnics, booming audio, projection mapping, and cinematic finales.

  • Lost Carnival is pure fun, with witty clowns, functioning carnival rides, and clever carnie game attendants. No shortage of entertainment here!

  • Sector 13 provides relentless intensity, keeping everyone engaged and on edge until the very last second. And nothing more entertaining than being chased by a leaf-blower!

  • VIP is strongly recommended due to long wait times—but it’s worth every penny!

Costume & Makeup: 10/10

The artistry here is flawless. From bloody scientists in Sector 13 to the colorful clowns of the Carnival, every detail immerses you. The Mad Hatter’s card-in-face look was particularly impressive. Characters look straight out of a movie set, elevating the haunt’s realism. These characters have truly complete looks from head to toe, sparing no detail!

Cast & Crew: 10/10

High-energy, committed, and clever throughout.

  • The Carnival booth attendants made every game booth interactive.

  • Sector 13 guards & doctors controlled the pace with intimidation and improv. The mutant creatures that inhabit Sector 13 were fully immersed in their feral & unhinged characters!

  • Pitch Black actors used the darkness to perfection, with spot-on timing and unnerving touches.

  • Haunted Hayride characters delivered engaging, theatrical performances, topped off by the always amazing zombie dance squad! Can’t forget to mention a crew favorite—Freddy Krueger who delivered a nightmare inducing performance!

  • Delirium spooks were relentless in their attacks, popping out of practically no-where to deliver quick, startling engagements.

  • Even the roaming actors outside of attractions never let the energy drop.

Set Design & Special Effects: 10/10

Reaper’s Revenge continues to set the standard for set design. Immersive, elaborate, & visually stunning. Some of the most aesthetically pleasing scenes you’ll encounter!

  • Haunted Hayride is loaded with massive animatronics (shoe-wee that opening scene is something FIERCE), projection mapping, vibrant scenes like Alice in Wonderland, and the fiery return of the intense finale. Pumpkin Hill remains breathtaking year after year. These scenes aren’t just facades, they are just as visually stunning on the backside as the wagon pulls away!

  • Delirium piles on dangling props and 3D effects for wild disorientation. The 3D effects in Delirium are easily among the best we’ve encountered—cleverly detailed, full of depth, and delirious illusions!

  • Lost Carnival never ceases to amaze us; their ability to recreate a fully functional carnival deep in the woods is nothing short of spectacular! What more could one want? Maybe a functional dark ride to round out this carnival of carnage!

  • Audio is some of the best in the industry, rattling your chest and immersing you fully. Audio can truly make or break a haunt and these guys could teach a masterclass on it!

Fright/Thrill Factor: 9/10

Reaper’s is more theatrical than terrifying, but there’s still plenty of scare to be found if you know where to look.

  • Pitch Black remains the most intense blackout maze we’ve ever done—dark, wet, claustrophobic, and downright unnerving. Scares came from all directions, including from above, which added to the creep factor!

  • Sector 13 is chaotic and interactive—splitting groups, freezing bodies, performing mock surgeries, and never letting up. Be prepared to leave with a different group of people you entered with! The intensity truly never let up from start to finish!

  • Lost Carnival & Delirium focus more on funhouse-style thrills than deep scares, but both are highly entertaining & provide quite the thrill.

Sharpening the Scare:

  • Water Effects: Please cut back. Getting sprayed in the face or soaked in 50° weather is just unpleasant, not scary. A few of our crew were subjected to a soaking more so than a quick spritz.

  • Hayride Bench Seating: Great accessibility addition, but sitting higher makes it harder for actors to engage from the outside edges of the wagon. Consider raised platforms along the edge of the wagons so actors can still reach eye level with customers.

  • Zombie Dance Scene: With new seating, visibility of the dancers is considerably reduced. Positioning the dancers slightly further from the wagon could potentially help with sightlines.

  • Satanic Witch Scene: Visually stunning, but lacked the interactive punch of years past—just missing the “wow” moment. It’ll be hard to top the eerie effect that they used to pull off in the old “Ring” scene—we miss you Samara!

  • Consider Bringing Back the Horror Icons: Jason and Michael are sorely missed—Freddy can’t hold it down alone!

  • Delirium: More disorienting flooring (shifting or mushy surfaces) or even a mirror maze addition would take this 3D attraction to the next level. Cranking up the scents/smells could also add another layer of sensory immersion!

  • Gift Shop: More fresh merchandise options would keep repeat visitors spending happily. Maybe consider items like socks, softshell jackets, blankets, etc.

Fright Night MVP:

The Sheriff! His commanding presence, wit, and improv skills are iconic at Reaper’s. Nobody sets the tone better—an absolute highlight every season as we transition from the Haunted Hayride to the Lost Carnival!

Recap the Screams:

Reaper’s Revenge continues to be a must-see destination for haunt lovers nationwide. It’s not just a haunt—it’s a full-blown horror production that mixes dazzling showmanship with moments of genuine fear. From the jaw-dropping visuals of the Hayride to the chest-rattling darkness of Pitch Black and the chaos of Sector 13, there’s something here for every type of haunt fan. Few attractions can claim the level of polish, intensity, and repeat value that this haunt has mastered. If you haven’t experienced it yet—put it on your list. If you have, you already know why we keep coming back year after year. Reaper’s Revenge delivers an unforgettable night out that you don’t want to miss!
