Reaper's Revenge — 2026 Review
REAPER’S REVENGE — Scranton, PA
OVERALL RATING — 9.75/10
There are haunted attractions you visit for scares. Others for incredible sets, actors, or atmosphere. Then there’s Reaper’s Revenge, where somehow it all comes together into one massive night on the mountain.
From that iconic hayride entrance beneath the flaming Reaper, with fog rolling across the pond and Don’t Fear the Reaper setting the mood, to roughly 105 minutes of actual attraction time, the entire experience feels like a journey. Six wildly different attractions flow together remarkably well, and the addition of Last Rites Funeral Parlor filled perhaps the only thing this lineup was missing: a massive traditional-style haunted house.
Six attractions. Six completely different worlds. One hell of a show.
After all these years, Reaper’s still finds ways to make us stop and say “WOW.”
Reaper’s Revenge is where scares meet spectacle—and few haunts deliver both on this scale.
ENTERTAINMENT VALUE — 9.5/10
Reaper’s feels like a magical experience, not somewhere you simply show up, get scared, and leave.
After surviving the attractions, the midway gives you plenty of reasons to hang around with local craft vendors, food, a bar/brewery, merch, photo ops, roaming characters, a bonfire and more. Even traveling between attractions becomes part of the experience as you trek through the woods and stumble upon characters and eerie environments along the way.
We’d love to see Reaper’s continue expanding its midway and roaming entertainment, but there’s already plenty here to turn a trip to the mountain into a full night out.
COSTUME & MAKEUP — 10/10
Reaper’s has an enormous cast spanning completely different worlds, yet the character looks remain remarkably cohesive within each attraction.
The undead of the Hayride, twisted Lost Carnival inhabitants, Delirium characters cleverly disguised among the scenery, Sector 13 mutants and funeral-home residents of Last Rites all looked like they belonged exactly where they were placed.
It’s not simply about elaborate makeup or expensive costumes—the complete look sells the character. Masks, wardrobe, makeup and environment consistently work together, and there were very few moments where the illusion was broken.
CAST & CREW — 10/10
This cast came to play.
The Hayride performers commanded enormous scenes rather than getting swallowed by them. Lost Carnival delivered some of the night’s best banter and improv, while Delirium’s actors absolutely nailed their timing—blending into the scenery before striking when we least expected it.
Sector 13’s mutants were aggressive, interactive and completely comfortable getting up close and personal.
Then there was Last Rites. We experienced this brand-new attraction on just their 2nd night of operation, yet its cast performed like they had been inhabiting that funeral home for years. From the towering attendant welcoming victims inside to the downright evil duo in the morgue and the relentless incinerator crew, commitment never wavered.
Last Rites doesn’t feel like a first-year attraction. It feels like Reaper’s has been burying people there for decades.
SET DESIGN & SPECIAL EFFECTS — 10/10
This is where Reaper’s becomes downright ridiculous.
The Haunted Hayride remains one of the most fantastical we’ve experienced. The beautifully layered witch scene, eerie graveyard and Thriller dancers, pumpkin hill, Freddy Krueger, sparking electrical poles and pyro-filled gas station are just a few highlights. The new projection mapping while descending the rabbit hole gave an already incredible Alice in Wonderland sequence another layer of visual magic.
Lost Carnival’s ghostly moving Ferris wheel and carousel in the middle of the woods never get old. The squeal of the Ferris wheel going round is music to our ears! Pitch Black proves Reaper’s can create an environment using almost no visibility at all, while Delirium weaponizes color and visual distortion.
And then they built Last Rites Funeral Parlor. The imposing facade, jaw-dropping two-story opening, mirror maze, morgue, incinerator and sheer amount of scenic detail make this first-year attraction an absolute beast. As the environments grow darker and you descend farther inside, it genuinely feels like you’re being led toward Hell.
Some haunts build scenes. Reaper’s builds worlds.
FRIGHT & THRILL FACTOR — 9.5/10
Reaper’s doesn’t rely on one flavor of fear.
The Hayride combines startles with fire, chaos and sensory overload. Delirium was noticeably more intense this year, with better spacing allowing its unexpected scares to land. Sector 13 thrives on intimidation and unpredictability—you can be separated from your group, sent down another pathway or suddenly find yourself on an operating table.
And Pitch Black remains one of the best blackout experiences we encounter.
Booming audio. Rattling walls. Tight pathways. Obstacles underfoot. Strange textures. Wet surfaces. Scares coming from above and below—all while you’re desperately trying to figure out where the hell you’re going. Pitch Black proves you don’t need to see the monster for your brain to convince you it’s there.
Last Rites brought something different: dread. Its slow descent from beautiful funeral home into increasingly sinister territory builds anticipation exceptionally well.
Some moments make you jump. Others make you uneasy. Some simply overwhelm the senses. Reaper’s knows how to use all three.
🔪 SHARPENING THE SCARE
Hayride Finale: The new projection is visually impressive, but the ending feels less impactful without a final physical scare. We’d love to see the Reaper return to send that wagon out with a bang!
Last Rites Finale: The buildup is phenomenal; stronger audio or another sensory element could make the final payoff hit even harder.
Last Rites Stairs: Consider subtle lighting or reflective strips to better identify descending steps.
Sector 13: Freshened-up scenarios/dialogue and a stronger finale could add unpredictability for repeat visitors.
Sector 13 Containers: Slightly less fog would maintain disorientation without completely overwhelming visibility.
Lost Carnival: A few additional actors deeper into the attraction could help maintain its strong opening energy.
👑 FRIGHT NIGHT MVP
The Towering Attendant — Last RitesTalk about perfect casting! His sheer size immediately commanded attention, but his character work sealed the deal. An unforgettable introduction to the funeral parlor.
The Last Rites CastSecond night?! Could've fooled us. This entire crew attacked their roles with confidence and intensity, with special love for that downright evil morgue duo.
Sheriff/Zed (Brandon)Would it even be Reaper’s without him? Year after year, his interactions inside the security shack remain a highlight.
Lost Carnival CrewSome of the night’s best improv and guest interaction came from these lunatics, particularly the fellas outside the funhouse. They knew how to read their victims and run with it.
🎟️ KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Parking: $3.
Consider VIP: Reaper’s draws a crowd, and GA waits can stretch into multiple hours on busy nights. If your budget allows, VIP can be money well spent.
It’s a continuous experience: Once you board the Hayride, you’re committed to the journey. The six attractions flow together in a linear experience rather than returning you to a midway between each one.
Plan accordingly: Our actual attraction experience ran roughly 105 minutes. Porta-johns are available at select points along the route if nature calls before the Reaper does.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There’s a reason Reaper’s Revenge has become an annual pilgrimage for our crew.
The Hayride remains an absolute spectacle. Lost Carnival is beautifully bizarre. Delirium delivered perhaps its best run yet. Pitch Black still makes us desperately search for the exit. Sector 13 sends you home with one final dose of chaos.
And Last Rites Funeral Parlor? Worth. The. Wait.
What impresses us most is that Reaper’s could easily coast on what they've already built—but they don't. They keep building, tweaking and finding new ways to surprise guests who have been coming here for years.
After all these visits, Reaper’s Revenge can still make us feel like first-time guests. That’s something truly special & downright magical!
If you consider yourself a haunted-attraction fan, this is one mountain you need to climb.
Reaper’s Revenge is a must-see haunt. 🎃
