Date: 10/5/2024
Location: Lehighton, Pennsylvania
Waldorf Estate of Fear, located in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, never fails to entertain us! For any Hell House LLC fans out there, this haunted attraction is the home to the infamous Abaddon Hotel. If you’ve yet to watch Hell House LLC, it’s easily the best haunted attraction horror film out there! And it’s an absolute MUST to watch Hell House LLC prior to visiting the Waldorf Estate of Fear!
As you weave down dark & windy roads you’ll eventually stumble upon the ominous Waldorf Hotel, the bread & butter attraction here at Waldorf Estate of Fear! Featuring 3 haunted attractions, a zombie escape room, and a relaxing midway (ample seating, bonfire, food, photo-ops, merch & more!), Waldorf Estate of Fear aims to provide a full evening's worth of SPOOKY FUN!
We last had the pleasure of visiting the Waldorf Estate of Fear in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic (2020). When mapping out our travels for this spooky season we knew it was a necessity to get our butts back to Waldorf Estate of Fear! Our long overdue trip to Waldorf Estate of Fear paired nicely with a smaller attraction merely 10-15 minutes down the road (Devil’s Last Laugh). That’s one of the perks of visiting haunts in the Lehigh Valley area… avid haunt gurus like us can easily squeeze 2 or 3 attractions into one evening! Now that sounds like SPOOKY FUN!
Waldorf Estate of Fear features 3 haunted attractions: Infection, Terror in the Corn, and the Infamous The Haunting at the Waldorf Hotel. Patrons have the pleasure to experience the attractions at their leisure, so if you need to catch your breath while relaxing by the fire inbetween attractions, go right ahead. In our opinion, there’s only one proper way to experience the attractions at Waldorf Estate of Fear and it’s in this specific order: Infection, Terror in the Corn, and Waldorf Hotel. This order of attractions will ensure you appropriately build up the adrenaline & suspense for the Infamous Waldorf Hotel.
We commenced our evening with Infection, home to Lehighton’s very own Zombie horde! Our sergeant instructed our group on how to survive the Zombie horde and challenged us to retrieve “The Intel” and “The Antidote”. Once we understood the mission, we were sent forth into the zombie-ridden darkness. Infection’s path weaves through a massive junkyard-esque property. While this attraction doesn’t really feature any elaborate or detailed set work, it effectively gives the Zombies ample hiding places. We had to dodge quite a few blood-thirsty Zombies, some who seemed to have a larger appetite than others. We kept our eyes peeled and eventually retrieved “The Intel” and “The Antidote”. As we approached the main campus, a fellow comrade lured us into safety… or at least we thought we were safe! Out of nowhere a relentless Zombie came darting for our fellow comrade & violently thrashed him across the room. This whole interaction certainly caught us off guard and was VERY well executed!
Next up we ventured forth for our 2nd attraction of the evening, Terror in the Corn! This attraction used to be a haunted hayride in the pre-covid days. Now it’s a solid 15 minute walking trail and quite honestly, we find this attraction to be more effective as a walking trail! Terror in the Corn does an incredible job immersing you into your favorite horror films! As we stumbled into each scene we felt fully immersed into a Hollywood movie set, except we were the unlucky souls in danger of being victimized by various horror villains/slashers! The scenes were extremely detailed and were perfectly crafted to realistically resemble the movie they were portraying! Along this action-packed adventure we encountered Bettlejuice, Freddy Krueger, Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers, LeatherFace, Jeepers Creepers, Pennywise, and MORE! While the sets gave the cast a solid scene to act off of, it’s truly the cast that brings Terror in the Corn to life! The scare actors throughout this attraction were on point, delivering killer performances! Their passion and energy shined through during their sinister performances! We have to give a special shout-out to LeatherFace & Pennywise who both absolutely killed it with their performances! LeatherFace was quite a large fellow & boy could he sling a chainsaw terrifyingly too realistic to the movies! And Pennywise was beyond immersed into his character delivering a memorable engagement with our squad. If you’re a horror film fanatic you’ll certainly find enjoyment in the sinisterly theatrical show that the Terror in the Corn provides. Grab some popcorn and lace up your sneakers, as Terror in the Corn provides a thrilling and spine-chilling experience you don’t want to miss!
Last but certainly not least, it was time to experience the Infamous Haunting at the Waldorf Hotel. If you want an eerie and action-packed attraction, the Waldorf Hotel will NOT disappoint! This roughly 15 minute attraction immerses you into the horrors that lie within the walls within just seconds of entering the hotel doors! You’ll be greeted by The Bellhop, who delivered a startling engagement that left the hairs on our neck standing up. The Bellhop’s ability to instill instant fear within us certainly set the tone for an unnerving and nightmarish journey! Much like Terror in the Corn, it’s truly the cast that stole the show during our journey through The Waldorf Hotel. Each character encountered was so incredibly immersed in their role, they left us questioning reality! An angered chef in the kitchen delivered a bloody-terrific engagement, as he offered to hack off our limbs! Joey, the actual character from Hell House LLC, invited us into the dining room for dinner & proceeded to show us his noose. He offered to test the noose out on us, but we quickly scrambled away. The Librarian runs a tight ship & if you don’t keep those lips sealed, she’s quick to cut out your tongue! We fell in love with the NEW (to us at least) elevator scene. A disturbing bellhop lured us into the elevator and before we knew it, we were violently descending to the dark depths of the Waldorf/Abbadon Hotel. As the elevator doors opened, our stomach’s turned at the site of the Hell House LLC basement scene reenactment! This incredibly realistic scene had us believing we actually ended up in the basement. The Clown was terrifyingly creepy as he sent chills down our spines! It’s safe to say we scurried quickly through this scene! As we ascended up a few flights of stairs, we eventually landed in the eerie attic. A ghostly fellow chased down a frantic gal and before we knew it, he snapped her neck. But that wasn’t it, he then proceeded to animatedly dance around the strobe-lit attic, which made for an incredibly chilling visual. Towards the end of our adventure we stumbled into the ghostly room 2C where we encountered The Bellhop again… after a startling engagement we descended down the back staircase & scurried our way through the final scene. Just when we thought we had escaped the horrors, one final chainsaw wielding maniac came hacking at our limbs. PHEW! Our hearts are racing just thinking about this non-stop & blood-curdling adventure! We truly cannot emphasize enough how incredible the cast was throughout the Waldorf Hotel. They truly were on a theatrical level and fully immersed in their roles. Major kudos to the initial Bellhop for commencing our adventure through the Waldorf Hotel on a sinister note!
After finding ourselves back in the midway our group spent at least 10 minutes RAVING about The Waldorf Hotel. We were truly blown away by the experience this year! We had the chance to connect with Angie (Owner) or as many folks like to call her “The Scream Queen”. It’s always a pleasure chatting with Angie as she’s truly an incredible individual & just oozes passion for all things spooky! Angie even afforded us the opportunity of a lifetime, to step foot into the actual basement of The Waldorf/Abbadon Hotel. For those of you who are Hell House LLC fans, you know how incredibly awesome yet horrifyingly creepy it is to be in the basement. Angie shared with us all sorts of stories and fun facts from the Hell House movies. She even shared a few paranormal stories which gave us goosebumps! We were so incredibly appreciative of this opportunity and cannot thank Angie enough for her hospitality!
The Scream Queen and her team are always brainstorming ways to enhance the experience, which helps to keep things fresh from year to year. Our SPOOKY FUN experience was certainly a reminder that we need to return much sooner for our next stay at the Waldorf/Abbadon Hotel. If you’re looking for a creepy and immersive horror experience, Waldorf Estate of Fear is exactly what you’re looking for. Job well done Angie & Waldorf Team, keep scaring the masses!
